Constituents of Ondo East and West Federal Constituency have expressed deep concern over the prolonged absence of their representative, Abiola Makinde, from Senate plenary sessions.

Consequently, a group, under the aegis of Ekimogun Roundtable has taken the proactive step of writing to the Speaker and Clerk of the National Assembly.

The group, in a letter signed by its Acting Secretary, Christiana Ayodele, is seeking detailed information on the plenary attendance record of Abiola Makinde, the member representing their constituency in the 10th Assembly.

The group noted that Makinde has been absent from plenary for several weeks, thereby rendering the entire constituency without representation.

Ayodele said, “It is imperative that lawmakers uphold their responsibilities and obligations to their constituents, and Ekimogun Roundtable is committed to ensuring that Hon Abiola Makinde and other public officials remain accountable and transparent in their duties as representatives of the people.”

The group, however, threatened legal action against the National Assembly should its request not be acceded to by the National Assembly in line with extant regulations.

When contacted, one of the aides to the senator described the group as faceless and stated that his principal would not dignify them with a comment.
