The Nigeria Customs Service has restated its determination to curb illicit trade.

Acting Comptroller-General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi disclosed this recently while showcasing seized items suspected of being Cannabis sativa at Ogun II Area Command.

He explained that the harmful effects of illicit substances on youths cannot be overemphasised as they pose a significant challenge to public health, safety, and socioeconomic development.

The seizure of 14,015 parcels of Cannabis sativa by officers of FOU Zone A, which weighed 7,728 kg, translated to a Paid Value of N618,240,000.

The shipment was discharged from boats at the creeks around Ajah and in the Ijebu-Ode area.
