In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Onuoha challenged political parties to bring forward any credible evidence questioning his competence, insisting that personal relationships should not interfere with his professional responsibilities.
He emphasized that he underwent a thorough vetting process by the Senate prior to his appointment, stating that he was screened and confirmed before assuming office.
The PDP’s chairman, Tony Aziegbemi, has been vocal in his calls for Onuoha’s reassignment, fearing a conflict of interest that could undermine election integrity.
However, INEC’s Chief Press Secretary, Rotimi Oyekanmi, has reiterated that Onuoha will remain in his position and encouraged the PDP to focus on the electoral process rather than targeting the REC. Oyekanmi assured the public of INEC’s determination to ensure an unbiased election.
