Despite the operation, Ododo reportedly assisted Bello in avoiding arrest, utilizing the immunity afforded to him as a sitting governor. This incident mirrors a previous attempt in April when Ododo also facilitated Bello’s escape from EFCC agents during a raid in Abuja.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that Bello was not detained, contradicting claims from Bello’s media team.
EFCC officials noted that Ododo’s actions hindered their ability to arrest Bello, citing his governorship immunity as a barrier to further action. One official remarked, “Yahaya Bello has not been arrested. The Kogi State governor prevented operatives from doing their work yesterday just as he did before. He took him away, and our men could not act because of the immunity he enjoys.”
