Onwubike specifically criticized Wike’s public stance in favor of one political party while openly opposing another, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He argued that such behavior is highly inappropriate, especially from someone in such a high-ranking government position. According to him, this could undermine public trust and harm the integrity of the democratic process.

In his statement, Onwubike referenced the connection between the PDP and the Resident Electoral Commissioner, expressing unease about Wike’s influence.

He said, “One of the parties, the PDP, is actually saying that the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) is very close to the powerful minister of the FCT (Nyesom Wike), and the minister of FCT is not a political pushover.”

Highlighting Wike’s significant influence, Onwubike noted, “He’s a very significant politician, and he is very loud. He has made it very loud and clear that he will not support a particular political party, which is the PDP.

He pointed out the implications of such a declaration, especially with elections looming.

Onwubike went on to emphasize the gravity of the situation. “It is quite unfortunate that we’re having this kind of scenario.”

An election is about to happen, and a cabinet-level appointee of the federal government is telling Nigerians who he is going to support and who he is not going to support. This is totally unconstitutional.”

His remarks have sparked concern among observers, many of whom agree that government officials should maintain impartiality to safeguard principles.

Wike’s statements, therefore, continue to be a topic of heated debate, with growing scrutiny over the minister’s political involvement.READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
