Electricity Crisis Tension! AEDC Loses ₦1.6bn Monthly In Niger Over Unpaid Bills

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Niger Zone, has disclosed that it suffers a massive monthly revenue loss of ₦1.6 billion due to widespread non-payment of electricity bills by consumers in Niger State.

The revelation was made by AEDC’s Managing Director, Engr. Chijioke Okwuokenye, during a media briefing with journalists in Minna, the state capital.

He stated that although AEDC is expected to generate around ₦2.5 billion in revenue each month, it currently collects only ₦850 million, leaving a huge shortfall.

In light of this, Okwuokenye welcomed the creation of the Niger State Electricity Regulatory Commission, describing it as a much-needed step toward addressing the ongoing crisis in the state’s power sector. “We see the commission as a potential game-changer in resolving the challenges plaguing electricity supply in Niger,” he said.….KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶▶
