Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney has told young forward Mason Greenwood to leave the club to get his career’ ‘back on track’.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The England forward has been absent from the Red Devils squad since January 2022 when he was charged with rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.
However, charges against him were dropped in February. Despite that, he has remained suspended by the Red Devils who have been conducting their own investigation.
Clubs in Italy have shown interest in signing the England international on loan for the coming season.
“It leaves Mason Greenwood in a position where he is stuck,” Rooney told The Athletic.
“So for Mason, it’s a bad position to be in because I’m sure he just wants to play football.
“I think the best thing for Mason now is to get out of the club and go and develop somewhere else.
‘He needs to get back playing because it has been a long time.”
