Keita who described the Peoples’ Democratic Party as an opposition party that has lost its former clout and glory, especially with the recent mass defections of its members, made the appeal on Thursday evening at a meeting of a coalition of political parties in Katsina State.
The politician lamented that the PDP had become a shadow of itself and may likely not make a meaningful impact in the next general elections, and thus bemoaned the fact that not a few hitherto party top notch had lately defected to APC.
He specifically mentioned some serving state governors as well as lawmakers at both the state and national levels and more recently, the former Vice President to President Goodluck Jonathan, Mallam Namadi Sambo wĥo have all defected from the PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress.
