Sabre was the head of Iran’s Shahid Karimi Group inside the Organisation of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND). There is strong evidence that his group is involved in nuclear and explosives research. According to Iranian media, Sabre survived a separate Israeli attack on their Tehran house a few days before the death of her 17-year-old son. Due to his significant role in the proliferation of WMD, Sabre was sanctioned in May 2025 by the US Treasury Department.
