Fernandes’ penalty was not enough for Man United as Ilkay Gundogan’s brace ensured Pep Guardiola’s side defeated the Red Devils.
Speaking about Man United’s defeat in the FA Cup final, Sherwood told Stadium Astro: “I’m not sure they were below par. They just have not got a pattern of play like Man City have.
“They rely on individual talents like Bruno Fernandes or Marcus Rashford turning up and doing something special.
“Man City has a structure. They rest on the ball. When they are tired, they keep possession and make the pitch big.
“When they need to get it to Erling Haaland quickly, they can do that as well. They’re the best side in the world at the moment. You have to give them credit. They were efficient today. They didn’t have to be fantastic but just win the game.”
