Mr. Emmanuel Omotoso and Mrs. Funmi Adejumo suggested that ongoing construction on the expressway might have contributed to the accident, as one lane of the road was blocked, complicating the situation.

Efforts from private heavy towing services were required to clear the wreckage. Some survivors were rescued and taken to the hospital. In response to the tragedy, motorists have urged the Oyo State government to acquire heavy towing vehicles and ambulances for emergency situations.

Currently, heavy traffic is reported on Ojo-Iwo Road, with Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Police Force, NSCDC, and Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency working to alleviate the congestion. There are calls for the construction contractor to reopen the blocked lane to prevent future accidents.
