According to a report online, the Federal Government has taken a significant step by distributing 20 trucks of rice to each of the 36 states in the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in a bit to help with the food crisis going on in the country which has now lasted for months.
Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, made this announcement following Monday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
This distribution is part of the government’s proactive measures to address the pressing issue of food shortages in the country. The minister emphasized the importance of governors ensuring the effective and equitable distribution of these essential grains to reach the most vulnerable members of society.
Amid that development, various Nigerians online have since reacted to the step taken by the Federal Government and sharing his opinion, Abdul-Aziz Abubakar, a member of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP and DG Media of Atiku Abubakar, said even Kano with over 20 million population (people) will receive 20 trucks as well as Bayelsa that has less than 3 million people. With that, it doesn’t make sense at all.
