Describing the incident as barbaric and inhuman, the seven passengers that were killed, according to the group, were all of the Tiv extraction
Signed by its President General, James Baka, TCSA, said the bus that was attacked was carrying victims who are completely Tiv women and children.
He said, “The suspects stopped the bus and asked all the passengers to come down. In the process, they attacked and hacked down seven helpless persons including women and children all of whom are Tiv indigenes.”
“We again wonder what really is the justification of these attackers for this heinous act because the Tiv communities in the area have been displaced since 2019 following the Jukun/Tiv crisis in which Tiv people are yet to return to the area as a result of continuous killings”. They lamented
”Sad that attacking and killing Tiv travellers who know nothing about the area in any disguise is the highest form of injustice and in a way, an invitation for civil war,
”Over nine Tiv persons have reportedly been killed in the same area by criminals between January and March this year”, he said
They group also called on the state government and security agencies to deploy every available means to make available the corps of the already slain passengers who boarded the bus, so that they could be given befitting burials.
