Good News: Poverty Reduction Plan for Nigeria’s N75,000 Cash Transfer for 70 Million Citizens

The Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed plans to provide financial assistance to its most vulnerable citizens, with the goal of distributing N75,000 to approximately 70 million individuals by 2025. According to the minister, the government aims to implement this program across all 36 states of the Federation by the end of January 2025. To achieve this, the government will utilize the National Identity Number (NIN) system to register up to 18.1 million households, which will enable them to receive the cash transfers.

The government’s target is to reach 15 million households, with an average of 4 to 5 individuals per household, resulting in approximately 70 million beneficiaries. Each individual will receive N75,000 as part of this initiative.
