According to the report by Punch on Monday, the attack took place around 5:30 pm near Oyimo River, along Emure-Eporo road in Emure, a spot notorious for kidnappings.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Security sources said that Oluwole and his wife were returning to Akure after attending a family event in Emure when their vehicle, a Toyota Camry, was ambushed.
Oluwole was reportedly hit by a bullet and died instantly, while his wife and two other occupants were taken into captivity.
This incident is not the first in the area, as pupils of Apostolic Faith Children School were kidnapped at the same spot in January, and Mrs Atinuke, wife of a retiree, Albert Adanikin, was also kidnapped on July 13 this year.
The Chairman of Emure Local Government, Tosin Adedayo, confirmed the incident and stated that a joint security team has been pursuing the kidnappers since the report was made.
Adedayo said that the security operatives who went after the bandits are yet to return, and expressed confidence that the captives would be freed. Soldiers, policemen and others who went after the kidnappers
He said, “I am aware and have been actively involved in the rescue mission to free our people. Soldiers, policemen, and others who went after the kidnappers have not returned since yesterday. We are confident that our people will be freed.”
