A violent ambush by gunmen has left several mourners dead or injured in Rim community, Riyom LGA of Plateau State. The victims were returning from a burial in Bachit on Wednesday evening when they were attacked by suspected Fulani militia, Punch reported on July 3, 2025.

Timothy Dantong, Liaison Officer to Governor Caleb Mutfwang for Riyom Constituency, confirmed the incident and revealed that he was among those who narrowly escaped.
