In a scathing critique of the economic policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, leader of the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), has voiced his concerns regarding the severe impact on Nigerians’ livelihoods....CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING.>>
In an interview with The Sun, Charanchi lamented that despite government reforms, citizens are facing skyrocketing prices and dwindling living standards.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Charanchi highlighted alarming statistics: fuel prices have surged to over N1,000 per liter due to reforms in the petroleum sector.
This surge has placed an undue burden on ordinary Nigerians reliant on affordable transportation. He also noted that as one dollar approaches N2,000—up from around N500 upon Tinubu’s assumption—import costs have escalated dramatically.
The escalating food crisis was another critical concern for Charanchi. “A bag of rice now exceeds N100,000,” he stated, contrasting this with a price point of approximately N30,000 when Tinubu took office.
These increases exacerbate poverty levels and threaten food security for many families.
Further critiques included rising education costs preventing students from affording school fees and soaring electricity tariffs that fail to deliver reliable service—where a single unit now exceeds N200 compared to about N70 previously.
Charanchi concluded by expressing deep frustration at what he perceives as a lack of empathy within government policies: “This administration has put Nigeria in a serious problem… It has no human feeling,” he asserted.
His remarks reflect widespread dissatisfaction amid escalating economic hardships faced by many Nigerians today.
