I am willing to be the vice president – Peter Obi Declares and gives conditions

The former Anambra State Governor has, however, specified some conditions that must be followed before making such a judgment.

He revealed the information in a recent interview with New Central TV, which aired on YouTube.

Obi stated that his primary purpose is to help Nigeria grow forward. He feels that for the next general election in 2027, the country requires strong leadership to effect constructive change.

When asked if he would take the position of Vice President, Obi replied, “Quite simply, I’m not yearning to be Nigeria’s president. I am keen to see Nigeria succeed. If I see somebody who can do the job better, I’ll consider becoming vice president.

“I even have folks that say I shouldn’t come out in 2027, and I told them to offer themselves. And we will not place everyone on a scale.

Despite his willingness to collaborate with others, Obi made it clear that he has no plans to leave the Labour Party.

He stated, “Yes, I would be here (at the Labour Party), and if someone comes for us to talk or come together, he must tell me what his intentions are.

“I will not join anyone in attempting to capture the state or win the election. I’d like someone to tell me how we’re going to assure that no Is the youngster left behind? How are we going to get those millions of out-of-school youngsters back into school?”

In the 2023 presidential election, Obi finished third with almost 6 million votes, accounting for approximately 25.4% of all votes cast. Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the election with over 8.8 million votes (37.6%).
