“I am not afraid of being removed,” Obasa said confidently. “I have been a member of the House for almost 22 years and Speaker for almost 10 years. And I think I have contributed my quota.”

However, Obasa expressed concerns about the manner of his removal, questioning why the chamber was broken into and a fake mace used. “But why did they have to break the chamber and use a fake mace to carry out the removal? If they say they don’t want me again, it is fine. But let them follow due procedure.”

Obasa maintained that he remains the Speaker until the right procedure to remove him is followed. “My status in the House is that I believe strongly that I remain the speaker of the Assembly until the right procedure to remove me is followed,” he emphasized.

The development has sparked intense debate among political stakeholders in Lagos State, with some calling for Obasa to accept his removal and others supporting his demand for due process. The controversy has also raised questions about the leadership of the House and the future of politics in Lagos State.

As the crisis deepens, there are concerns about the potential impact on the state’s governance and the legislative arm. The Lagos State House of Assembly is expected to play a crucial role in supporting the state government’s policies and programs.
