During an interview with Arise TV regarding Kanu’s continued detention, Nwodo suggested that the case exemplifies the broader marginalization of the South-East, as similar self-determination activists from other regions seem to face fewer legal hurdles.

Kanu, in a recent court appearance, expressed frustration over how his case was being handled differently. Nwodo emphasized that Kanu feels he is not receiving the same legal treatment as others in similar positions.

In Nwodo’s words: “He is arguing as someone who has reached a legal impasse—moving from the lower courts to the highest courts, yet being sent back repeatedly, unsure if the judges presiding over his case are treating him fairly.”

“When you compare this with how other self-determination movements, such as those advocating for Oduduwa State, are treated, it becomes evident that Kanu is not receiving the same consideration. This further fuels the belief among South-Easterners that they are being unfairly marginalized.”
