Ojo, according to the Chief of Operation of the Corps, Ajayi Aderotimi, was arrested on Tuesday in Inisa, Odo-Ado Ekiti, following a tip-off by his employer over the possession of questionable volumes of food items in the hut where he stays.

He said the suspect stole the food items on Friday night, July 14, before he was finally arrested on July 25.

The food items include, a bag of rice, a pack of Indomie Noodles, a pack of Three Crown Milk, Peak Milk, detergent, a pack of spaghetti, seasoning, among others.

In his words, “Following a tip off yesterday, this suspect was arrested at Odo-Ado for burglary and theft of food items.

“It was a tip off by his employer and the neighborhood because they noticed such questionable volumes of food items inside a hut where he stays on the farm.”

Upon interrogation by journalists, the suspect confessed to the crime, adding that he had been eating the food items before he was caught.

When asked further, he said hunger and delayed payment by his employer led him to the act.

“I stole the food items because I had nothing on me again, and when I worked for my employer, he would not pay me on time. That was why I displayed such an act of greed,” he admitted.

On her part, the Victim, Olumoroti Tolulope, grieved over the act, adding that she bought the food items on credit in order to take care of her family.

Tolulope, who is a local government staff in Ado-Ekiti, said she was transferred from Efon to Ado-Ekiti five months ago and borrowed over N100,000 to purchase the goods on Thursday before the suspect looted the food items the following day.

However, Ajayi Aderotimi said the suspect will be transferred to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation and actions.
