In a decisive move, President Bola Tinubu has announced he will suspend other engagements to personally visit Benue State on Wednesday, following a brutal attack in Yelewata that left over 160 residents dead.

“I will adjust my programme and go see Benue people,” Tinubu declared during a speech in Abuja on Monday, showing solidarity with victims and their families.

His visit comes amid rising criticism from opposition leaders, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who faulted the President for not showing up earlier despite weeks of bloodshed by suspected herdsmen.

As part of preparations, Tinubu has already dispatched top security officials—including the IGP, NSA, and intelligence chiefs—alongside senior lawmakers to the troubled state. He is expected to hold a town hall meeting with traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth groups to discuss lasting peace solutions.
