Three individuals have been arrested in Nigeria-Cameroon transboundary region for illegal wildlife activities.

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), which works in conjunction with NCS, issued a statement saying the arrest took place in June 2023.
WCS explained that the two arrests followed a series of intelligence-led operations they supported.
According to the statement, one of the suspects was apprehended in Jimeta, Yola, with four sacks of ivory weighing 89 kg.
“Two other suspects were also arrested later last month in Sangere, Girei LGA, Adamawa State, with five sacks of pangolin scales and claws weighing 216 kg,” the statement disclosed.
According to WCS, these are the first known arrests of wildlife traffickers in the transboundary region.
The organisation added that the three suspects are currently facing prosecution from Customs.
An official of WCS, Elisha Bello, a counter-wildlife trafficking adviser in Calabar, said: “I am overjoyed by this news and would like to congratulate the Nigeria Customs Service on the arrests made. We look forward to hearing more about the outcome of the prosecution as well as to further collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service.”
