INEC Issues Warning to Political Parties Ahead of Ekiti 2026 Governorship Election

The REC made this statement in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, during a meeting with political parties, where he formally notified them of the upcoming Ekiti State 2026 governorship election.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State, Bunmi Omoseyindemi, on Wednesday affirmed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s dedication to maintaining the utmost levels of transparency and fairness throughout all stages of the 2026 Ekiti governorship election, including the periods before, during, and after the election.

He indicated that this action was in accordance with the Electoral Act, which requires INEC to issue a Notice of Election no later than 360 days prior to the scheduled election date.

It is noteworthy that INEC had previously announced July 20 as the date for the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State.

The REC said, “This meeting is both symbolic and strategic.
