*Abuja, Nigeria* – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the arrest of an alleged internet fraudster involved in a disturbing case of suspected money ritual. The suspect, reportedly a young man, was arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) after allegedly confining his girlfriend in a hotel in Abuja.
According to the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Josephine Adeh, the suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended at the Top View Hotel in Wuse, Abuja. The arrest followed reports that the suspect had been holding the victim captive to conduct money rituals.
In a statement released Thursday night, SP Adeh noted that the NSCDC is currently in custody of the suspect but is yet to transfer him to the police for further investigation. The police, she emphasized, are ready to begin a thorough and discreet investigation once the handover is complete.
“Findings revealed that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken the suspect into custody and has yet to hand it over to the police for diligent investigation,” Adeh said. “The FCT Police Command, for all intents and purposes, awaits the NSCDC to hand over all parties for the commencement of diligent and discreet investigation. Further developments will be communicated in due course.”
Details surrounding the case remain sketchy, but sources suggest that the victim, a young lady, had been confined in the hotel by her boyfriend for some time before security personnel intervened. It is not yet clear how long she was held captive or the methods allegedly used in the money ritual plot.
