The violence began early Saturday when suspected rustlers stole about 200 cattle from Gwaraje village in Igabi Local Government Area.

According to reports, the rustlers moved the animals through neighboring villages, shooting and fatally wounding a 35-year-old woman, Rahila Danzaria, in Kadanya village. Tensions escalated when youths from Anguwan Mairijya intercepted two men from Gwaraje village, Musa Husaini and Muntari Tajo, who were allegedly trailing the rustlers. The two men were severely beaten and left unconscious.
