One of the survivors of the June 20 mob attack in Mangun, Mangu LGA of Plateau State, has shared a gripping account of how he narrowly escaped de@th and alerted soldiers who later rescued 18 others from a burning bus. Rufa’i, a passenger among 31 wedding travellers from Zaria, Kaduna State, told his story during Kaduna Governor Uba Sani’s visit to the injured at the 44 Army Reference Hospital.

According to Rufa’i, the group was en route to a wedding when hostility flared from locals after their bus stopped to ask for directions. Moments later, he overheard terrifying words: “Kill them all and burn the vehicle.” Within minutes, the bus was under siege. While attackers blocked the road, Rufa’i stealthily removed his gown and slipped into the crowd unnoticed — just before the vehicle was set ablaze with passengers still inside.
