Umar is demanding accountability for her son’s death, insisting that the officers responsible must be held accountable.

She expressed her anguish, saying that after her son was shot in the leg and fell, police proceeded to shoot him in the abdomen, delivering the fatal blow.

Umar is calling for the officers who deliberately shot her son to be identified and held responsible for their actions, seeking justice for her loss.

The Kano police have yet to comment on the incident but have announced an investigation to determine if officers are responsible for the fatalities in the city, which has experienced significant violence since the protests began.

Additionally, the police have reported that hundreds of individuals have been arrested on charges of “destruction, looting, and inciting disorder” in Kano.

Amnesty International has accused the Nigerian police of using live ammunition and excessive force, urging investigations into the behavior of security forces.

Isa Sanusi, the Nigeria director for Amnesty International, confirmed that seven protesters were killed by security forces in Kano’s Kurna and Kofar Nasarawa districts, describing this number as a conservative estimate of the nationwide death toll.

As per The Guardian, she remarked, “Bashir was shot in the leg and he fell. Instead of leaving him, the police also shot him in the abdomen, which was the fatal shot.

“I demand that the policemen who deliberately shot and killed my son be found and made to face the consequences of their actions. I want justice.”
