Lagos State seals off supermarket in Festac for selling expired products

Afolabi Solebo, general manager of LASCOPA, said on Wednesday that the move was part of the agency’s efforts to clamp down on commercialisation of expired products.

Solebo added that the agency will also prosecute the owner of the superstore.

“On the 22nd of November, 2024, the monitoring and enforcement department of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, in the course of its monitoring responsibility, was at the Festac area and in the course of their monitoring, they entered a supermarket called Blessed Happy Homes Superstore,” he said.

“A lot of expired products were found and it is unfortunate that we still persist in this part of the world to be doing this.

“Baby foods and other consumables that have expired since 2023 were displayed for sale.

“They were invited to the office but they didn’t come. We approached the court and got an order to seal the place.

“We are going to prosecute whoever is the owner of that superstore because this is Lagos. In Lagos, consumers are kings.” .…..For More READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE
