According to The Punch, it was reported that the suspects had initially sought the services of a commercial sex worker before hiring the Uber driver to take them to their destination.

However, while Bright Edafe, the PRO for the Delta State Police Command was giving the update in a video he posted on his verified X handle, he said that the two suspected murderers have been arrested.
When he was parading the commercial sex worker, she said that after the deceased demanded for his balance from the suspects, one of them threw rope around his neck and they strangled him to death.
Further talking, she said in pidgin, which has now been translated to English, “After disposing the man, they took me to one bush, collected my phone and told me to lie down. After lying down, they left me alone.”
