According to the Nigerian Army’s statement on its official social media platform, the troops’ recent actions were part of a sustained campaign against terrorist activities throughout Nigeria.

The army emphasized that their operations have been decisive and aggressive, targeting terrorist networks across the nation. In addition to apprehending Usman, the troops seized weapons and critical logistics used by the terrorists, tightening their grip on criminal elements operating in the forests.

The army revealed that the successful capture of Usman on September 11, 2024, was made possible through reliable intelligence. Upon his arrest, Usman confessed to being responsible for several deadly attacks in Plateau State.

Notably, he admitted to orchestrating the recent assault on Ganawuri village, which resulted in the deaths of four innocent people. He also confessed to involvement in a local kidnapping syndicate that had abducted two individuals.

In a separate operation, the troops responded swiftly to a kidnapping attempt in Kyaram village, located in Kanam Local Government Area. Their prompt action led to the successful rescue of two more victims.

In Borno State, the army launched an ambush on terrorists attempting to move from Sambisa Forest to the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza Local Government Area.

The ambush resulted in the elimination of two terrorists following an intense shootout. This operation was part of the broader strategy to disrupt terrorist movements and operations in the northeast region of Nigeria.

The army’s operations also extended to Kaduna State, where troops raided a terrorist hideout in Gobarawa Forest, situated in the Birnin Gwari area.

The troops’ intervention forced the terrorists to flee in disarray, abandoning their equipment and weapons. The army reported recovering an AK-47 rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and five motorcycles left behind by the fleeing criminals.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, praised the troops for their unwavering dedication and successful operations. He commended their efforts in the ongoing battle against terrorism and urged them to continue their aggressive campaigns to eliminate terrorists and other criminal elements from their hideouts.

The Nigerian Army’s achievements underscore the progress being made in the fight against terrorism and highlight the effectiveness of their strategic operations.
