Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is set to be re-arraigned by the Federal Government on a new charge at the Federal High Court, Abuja. The latest case, filed under charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/195/25, comes just weeks after an earlier criminal defamation suit (CR/297/25) was instituted against her at the FCT High Court. Both charges center around statements allegedly made by the senator that are believed to tarnish the reputations of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
The FCT High Court case is based on Section 392 of the Penal Code, while the fresh charge relies on provisions of the Cybercrime (Prohibition) Act, 2024—specifically Sections 24(1)(b) and 24(2)(c). Authorities allege that the senator used online platforms to circulate remarks that could harm the public image of the two political figures. Senator Natasha, who represents Kogi Central, has maintained her innocence and insists her statements were taken out of context.
The Federal High Court has scheduled her arraignment for June 30, 2025. This development follows her bail approval on June 19 by the FCT High Court.
