The Ogoshi brothers, from Lagos, duped Jordan DeMay into giving them obscene photographs by pretending to be a girl his age and then blackmailed him.

He committed su!cide less than six hours after they began communicating on Instagram.

It is the first successful prosecution of Nigerians for se*xtortion in the United States, where it is a rapidly rising cybercrime that is frequently associated with Nigeria.

Jenn Buta, Jordan’s mother, wept as she presented a victim impact statement in court while holding images of her son. “I am shattered to my core,” she explained.

She hailed the trial’s conclusion, but noted there was no positive outcome to the unfortunate case. Jordan DeMay was a popular Michigan schoolboy.

Samuel Ogoshi, 24, and Samson Ogoshi, 21, made him a friend request on Instagram, posing as an attractive girl his age and flirting with him.

When they obtained obscene images from the adolescent, they blackmailed him for hundreds of dollars, thre@tening to post the images online with his pals if he did not comply.

Jordan sent as much money as he could and informed the scammers that he would commit su!cide if they circulated the photographs.
