In a brief social media video, Ayodele cautioned that joining the London club could adversely affect Osimhen’s career, warning that it might undermine his performance and future prospects. He also suggested that if Osimhen moves to Chelsea, the Nigerian Football Federation should reconsider including him in the national team.
Ayodele has previously criticized Chelsea, claiming that the club was cursed and in need of spiritual cleansing. In 2023, he warned that Chelsea’s fortunes could decline further, predicting potential relegation if the curse wasn’t addressed. According to Ayodele, no amount of investment in top players could reverse the club’s misfortunes without resolving this issue.
Chelsea is currently focused on acquiring a reliable striker and has shown substantial interest in Osimhen, especially following the collapse of their deal for Atletico Madrid’s Samuel Omorodion. Valued at €130 million, Osimhen remains a key target for Chelsea, who are keen to strengthen their squad for the 2024/25 season.
The Nigerian forward has drawn interest from several top European clubs, including Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Liverpool. However, Chelsea is the most determined suitor.
