Ajaero vowed to mobilize workers for a one-month strike if the law is passed, allowing state governors to determine minimum wage payments. He also suggested subjecting federal lawmakers and governors to minimum wage, highlighting the need for leaders to understand workers’ plight.

The NLC President expressed frustration over the government’s disregard for agreements and urged workers to prepare for a showdown if demands are not met.

The warning comes as the House of Representatives and Senate consider the proposed transfer, which has drawn criticism from labour unions fearing reduced minimum wage and exacerbated economic hardship.

The potential transfer has sparked tension, with the NLC’s threat of industrial action pressuring the government to reconsider.

The country braces for a possible showdown between labour unions and the government, leaving Nigerian workers facing an uncertain future.
