We asked what the issues were, but they did not tell us. They did mention that Joe Ajaero would eventually be released, but our concern is, what is the issue that he is being arrested for?”
Osifo further highlighted that this was not the first time Ajaero had been summoned by security agencies. He noted that Ajaero had previously been questioned by the police over allegations of terrorism financing, yet no charges were ever pressed. “If there are issues, why are they not pressing charges?” Osifo questioned, adding that such ambiguity only deepens the frustration within the labor movement.
The TUC President condemned what he described as a lack of transparency in the authorities’ actions, emphasizing the need for openness and accountability. “You just picked someone and put him in custody without talking to Nigerians and without telling us what the issues are.
