Marketers fear that if Dangote’s price is high, they may resort to importing petrol themselves, as the Nigerian market is now open to competition.

Discussions are ongoing between independent marketers and foreign partners to determine if importing petrol would be more cost-effective than purchasing from Dangote.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) highlighted the importance of competition to ensure availability and price moderation in the market.

While the NNPC has indicated it won’t purchase Dangote’s petrol unless it is cheaper than international market prices, Dangote Group officials have assured the public of their commitment to providing affordable, high-quality fuel for Nigeria.
