Nobody can sack me for speaking the truth–Adolphus Wabara

Efforts are underway to bring Abia State Governor Alex Otti back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), according to former Senate President and Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara. The statement comes amid recent tensions within the PDP, following an unsuccessful attempt to suspend Wabara. The former party spokesman, Elder Abraham Amah, had moved for his suspension over alleged anti-party activities after Wabara commended Governor Otti for initiating the construction of Port Harcourt Road in Aba in 2023. Wabara, however, defended his remarks, stating that his praise was based on tangible evidence rather than party loyalty.

He maintained that his commendation of the governor’s developmental projects in Abia should not be interpreted as a political stance. Wabara stressed that political affiliations should not prevent recognition of effective governance. He emphasized that the PDP would welcome Otti’s return, acknowledging the governor’s contributions to infrastructure development in the state.

The PDP BoT Chairman argued that public office holders should receive credit for genuine efforts to improve society. He urged for a separation between governance and politics, noting that political rivalries should not obstruct progress. He also highlighted his commitment to strengthening the PDP by attracting new members and fostering unity within the party.

Wabara reiterated his role as an elder statesman, insisting that he would continue to speak the truth regardless of his party affiliation. He pointed out that his position was based on fairness and the broader interests of the people, rather than partisan considerations. According to him, constructive governance should be acknowledged irrespective of political divides.

He also commended Governor Otti for showing respect to elders in the state, regardless of their political backgrounds. Wabara acknowledged that leadership should transcend party lines and that mutual respect among political figures would benefit the development of Abia State. He further noted that effective governance should be recognized as a shared responsibility rather than a partisan issue.

He said: Nobody can sack me for speaking the truth. So, continue to do the good work you are doing in Abia. Even the blind man can see it. I’m one of those who will continue to appreciate you.
