Adams Oshiomhole declared Governor Godwin Obaseki politically irrelevant, asserting the recent election results reflect the true will of Edo citizens
Oshiomhole criticized Obaseki’s leadership, claiming his management of public services has failed, and emphasized that the election signifies Obaseki’s political end
Adams Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo State, has declared that Governor Godwin Obaseki is no longer politically relevant. He made this statement during an interview on Channels TV’s “Politics Today” while discussing the recently concluded Edo governorship election.
On Sunday, INEC announced Monday Okpebholo, the APC candidate, as the election winner. Oshiomhole said the election results reflect the true will of Edo citizens.
When asked if he was worried about the reactions following the APC candidate’s victory, Oshiomhole dismissed concerns. He criticized the acting PDP chairman for remarks about defending votes with blood, saying, “We believe in President Jonathan’s stance that no election is worth the blood of any Nigerian.”
He also pointed out that Obaseki, during a previous interview on Channels TV, had implied that the election was a do-or-die affair. According to Oshiomhole, “Now that the election is over, I guess he’s politically dead.”
Oshiomhole further noted that the people spoke by electing Monday Okpebholo, who was elected senator last year. He expressed that the electorate values action over promises, highlighting issues like the state of classrooms and public services under Obaseki’s leadership.
He criticized Obaseki’s management of the state’s hospitals, stating, “You turned a public hospital into a private one, making it inaccessible to the poor. People aren’t blind to these actions.”
Oshiomhole concluded by emphasizing that the election results signify the end of Obaseki’s political era in Edo State.…..For More READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE ▶▶
