Ohanaeze decries beheading of Abia LP chieftain Nmaduka

The Secretary-General of the Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has condemned the murder and beheading of a chieftain of the Labour Party from Umunneochi Local Government Area of the state, Mr Zachary Nmaduka, by unknown assassins.

Isiguzoro, an ex-Ohanaeze youth leader, said this in a statement on Wednesday in Aba.

He urged southeastern governors and security agencies to improve on intelligence gathering and surveillance to fight crime in the region.

“Critical stakeholders, every citizen of this great country show efforts and bring forward on the table their vast wealth of experiences and expertise towards addressing insecurities and other many myriads of challenges impeding our efforts to attain economic greatness and enhance critical Infrastructural development in every part of Nigeria society for good of the people.

“I would want to categorically state here that there should be an urgent need to fashion out a workable security system shroud on effectiveness and efficiency.

“There must be a radical improvement and expansion of Rapid Response Units of all security apparatuses to be able to urgently respond in clamping down criminals in any Abia areas.

“Government should ensure adequate funding of all security apparatuses so as to be able, towards achieving set goals, which hinged purely on securing every part of Nigeria federation,” he said.

He reminded every Abia inhabitant that no society thrives under an atmosphere of insecurity, hence the urgent need for all relevant stakeholders to put in place the much-needed efforts in mapping out workable modern security systems.

He called on the recently-launched Abia security taskforce, codenamed ‘Operation Crush Initiative’ by Governor Alex Otti to ensure the perpetrators of the gruesome murder of the innocent citizen are fished out and brought to book.

Isiguzoro appealed to residents to continue to render their full cooperation to security agencies, especially information dissemination about the ugly menaces and hideouts of criminal elements in any part of the state.

He sympathised with the deceased’s family and friends and the leadership of the Labour Party in the state.

He further tasked the Abia government to place the late Nmaduka’s family on the statewide education scholarship/employment schemes, including monthly stipends and other impactful welfare enhancement packages to relieve the trauma caused by the ugly incident.

Nmaduka was brutally murdered on September 13th, 2023, by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in Umuchioke, Ezieka, Akpukpa Uturu community in the Isiuakwato L Government Area of the State.
