The case has drawn considerable attention within legal circles and was heard at the Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Agunloye faces two counts: conspiracy and forgery. He is accused of falsifying testamentary documents that purportedly represented the will of the late Ejelonu. The alleged offense occurred on September 7, 2023.

Police prosecutor Nelson Akintimehin revealed in court that Agunloye allegedly collaborated with Ejelonu’s sister, Aminat Ijeoma Bakare, to forge the will.

Bakare, 72, is already on trial for her involvement in the case. The forged will was reportedly submitted to the Probate Registry at the State High Court in Akure.

The charges against Agunloye stem from violations of Sections 516 and 467(2)(f) of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006. Agunloye has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

During the court proceedings, defense attorney Kehinde Osadugbe requested bail for Agunloye, arguing that the alleged forgery occurred during his professional duties.

However, the prosecution opposed the bail application, citing Agunloye’s previous non-compliance with administrative bail conditions as evidence of a potential flight risk.

Magistrate Kolawole Aro granted bail in the amount of N2,000,000, with two sureties required to provide similar amounts. The case has been adjourned to September 26 for further hearing and to consolidate the charges.READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
