No one knows exactly what led to the fight. Blows were exchanged and Ifeanyi suddenly slumped and died. Eze himself has been taken to the market police station. Terrible thing anger in this challenging economic time”.
In a follow-up conversation with newsmen over the phone, Dr. Uche Nworah provided additional details, stating that both Ifeanyi and Eze were from Ebonyi State. He also mentioned that the two men may have been arguing over their allotted spaces in the market before the altercation escalated into a physical fight.
“I was at the market when it happened. They said they were brothers from Ebonyi State, and it was like they were fighting about space. When it happened, some of the other traders gathered there so I didn’t go close. They took Eze to the Market Police Station. But later, I saw two officers taking him away in a tricycle, maybe to the FCT Police Command. And they took Ifeanyi’s body to a hospital,” he said.
Investigations revealed that the dispute between the two traders, Ifeanyi and Eze, who both sold underwear at the market, was sparked by a disagreement over their allocated trading spaces, which ultimately escalated into a physical altercation that resulted in Ifeanyi’s death.
Ifeanyi suddenly slumped and died during the fight, causing widespread commotion and panic among traders and customers in the market.
Following the incident, Eze was taken into custody by the police and is currently being detained at the Utako Police Station.
A source within the Utako Police Station, who chose to remain anonymous, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, stating that it was being treated as a murder case. The source further revealed that the matter would be transferred to the FCT Police Command for further investigation and handling.
The anonymous source also confirmed that the body of the late Ifeanyi had been taken to the mortuary, where it would be kept pending further investigation and autopsy.
