Osun Accident: O’Ambulance confirms death of three more LAUTECH students

Casualty figures in the road traffic accident involving some students of the Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, on Wednesday night, has risen from three to six.

DAILY POST gathered on Friday that three other students, who were survivors, had died in the hospital.

Three occupants, the driver, a female and a male student travelling along the Osogbo-Ilobu-Ogbomoso road were burnt to death after their bus lost control and somersaulted.

The Osun Ambulance Service, O’Ambulance, had rescued six other occupants after responding to the distress call from the scene of the accident.

It was reported that the driver had hit a commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada in Okinni and in an attempt to evade capture and the anger of the residents, oversped and lost control of the vehicle.

“A few meters from Ojutu Bridge, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the bus somersaulted and caught fire. Some people were rescued before the fire could spread but three people were burnt to death. Operatives of the O’Ambulance Scheme came around to rescue some of the victims,” Rasaq, a resident of Okinni was quoted to have said.

The Head of Operations, O’Ambulance, Elizabeth Arowosafe also confirmed that three more victims of the accident had died.

“I just left UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital now. Three of those we took there survived. We have moved two others to UCH in Ibadan. One of them is still at UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital. The other three could not make it. We now have six corpses.”
