Osun police arrest suspected cultists, burglar

Four suspected members of Eiye Confraternity have been arrested by operatives of the Osun State Police Command.

The suspects are Adejumo Boluwatife, Adisa Lateef, Gbolahan Oladipupo and Adeagbo Musibau, all between the ages of 20 and 25.

The suspects are reportedly notorious for terrorising residents of Osogbo the state capital.

They were arrested by the personnel of the Anti-cultism Unit of the Command.

Also, operatives of the Osun State Police Command arrested a 32-year-old man, Ayomide David Popoola, for alleged burglary and theft.

Popoola was alleged to have broken into an uncompleted four-bedroom flat at Plot 1, Block 13, Osun GRA, Gbongan Road, Osogbo where he allegedly stole an electric cable.

The owner of the house, Akintola Adebisi Raifu, reported to the police about the suspicious movement of the suspect around the property and policemen were deployed to the scene immediately.

According to the police, the suspect was caught removing the newly installed electric cables in the building.

He was arrested with one of the bags containing some of the looted electric cables recovered from him while other members of the gang escaped.

Confirming the arrests, the Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola said the suspects will all be charged to court after due investigation.

According to her, the four cultists were arrested by policemen at Idi-Omo Area, Osogbo upon a tip-off

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of Eiye Confraternity and they would soon be charged to court.”

Regarding Popoola who was nabbed for burglary and theft, Opalola also said efforts were ongoing to apprehend the rest of the syndicate.

She said the suspect would be charged to court after the investigation.
