Leaders from civil rights and community-based organizations across Ekiti, Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara, Delta, and Edo states will participate.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in Lagos on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at a summit titled “Sustainable Democracy in Nigeria: The Role of Non-state Actors.”

According to the organizers, the event is expected to attract around 1,500 participants, including media representatives, professional bodies, and delegates from South-West state governments, among others.

In a statement, the General Secretary of the groups, Mr. Popoola Ajayi, noted: “Leaders of Yoruba associations from the West African coast, as well as from Northern, Middle Belt, and South Eastern Nigeria, will be in attendance. Nigeria is at a critical juncture in its history. As you may know, the AYDM is the largest coalition of Pan-Yoruba groups, comprising 130 member organizations, including community-based, artisan, and professional groups.

“AYDM coalition members include but are not limited to South West Professional; O’odua Peoples Congress, Agbekoya; South-West Farmers Forum, United Itsekiri Peoples Congress, ANAMMACO, representing Okada Riders in the South West; South West Students Coalition, O’odua Nationalist Coalition, Yoruba Community Association in Northern Nigeria, Ilaje Peoples Assembly; Igbimo Omo Oodua in Diaspora, Nigerian Automobile Technicians Association, with some 5million registered members of mechanics established in 1953; Covenant Group of South-West Professionals, Association of Yoruba Communities in West Africa, Yoruba Artisan and Traders Association, O’odua International Democratic Movement, O’odua Muslim-Christian Dialogue Group, among many others…..For More READ THE FULL ARTICLE HERE ▶▶
