In Birnin Yero village, bandits attacked a mosque after evening prayers, abducting eight worshippers and injuring several others.

Witnesses reported that gunfire caused panic, but there were no fatalities in this incident.

In Shanawa village, four people were taken, while a woman from Jangeru was kidnapped but later released after being injured. She managed to return home the next morning.

Residents expressed fear due to the bandits’ use of guns. This attack followed shortly after 12 residents were released for a ransom of N12 million.

Additionally, bandits threatened two villages, Kwari and Kurya, demanding they evacuate within three days or face violence. Despite the threats, Kurya residents pledged to stay, voicing frustration over the ransom they have paid and calling for government action to improve security against banditry.

A resident of Kurya village, who wished not to be mentioned, said,

“We have made our minds not to leave our homes. This time around we will not comply with the bandits’ directive. We are tired of this kind of threat. We have resolved not to go anywhere.

They have collected millions of naira from us in the name of levies and ransom and now they want to chase us from our villages. This is unacceptable, we will not go anywhere. We are only calling on the government to provide us with security personnel so that together we will face the bandits whenever they come.”
