It was observed that since the political crisis began, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, and his group have maintained a solid grip on the PDP’s institutions throughout the state.

Wike’s side was claimed to have eventually snatched the entire structures from Fubara, establishing a stranglehold for the next four years throughout the party’s ward, local government, and state congresses.

Fubara and his adherents skipped the congresses after obtaining a court order to stop them, but Wike’s loyalists used another court order to form the structures.

Though the conclusion of the congresses had exacerbated the party’s dilemma, there were no indications that the PDP structures would be given over to Fubara, despite vows made by several PDP national leaders.

Sensing difficulty, the Governor and his supporters were believed to have chosen APP as an alternate platform for contesting the elections.

Governor’s allies and social media aides had been promoting the APP’s activities, helping the little-known party build popularity in the state.

Fubara’s involvement in APP had previously been speculated, but with his adherents appearing as local government chairman and councilor candidates, the matter had become a reality.

It was reported that following the commotion surrounding the selection of candidates across wards and local government councils, the camp published the final list of the chosen candidates on the APP.

The majority of the Caretaker Committee chairmen became chairmanship candidates, although new candidates were appointed in several local government regions.

Some of the anointed candidates were alleged to have generated protests in some regions, particularly in Khana Local Government Area, where stakeholders marched to Government House Port Harcourt, demanding that the governor rethink his pick of one Martin Nwigbo as chairmanship candidate.

It was reported that all 23 of Fubara’s chosen chairperson contenders emerged from the APP platform.

Fubara’s loyalists, who emerged chairmanship candidates of the APP are Abua/Odua, Vincent Reuben Obu; Ahoada-East, Chibudom Ezu; Ahoada-West, Mr. Iyekor Ikporo; Akuku-Toru, Mrs. Tonye Oniyide; Emohua, David Omereji; Obio/Akpor, Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo; Omuma, Promise Reginald; Opobo/Nkoro, Enyiada Cookey-Gam; Port Harcourt, Ezebunwo Ichemati, among others.

The APP Secretariat at the new GRA in Port Harcourt was described as a hive of political activity, with Fubara supporters flocking in and out of the premises.

Recently, 20 Councillorship candidates representing the 20 wards of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area paid a familiarization visit to the APP Secretariat and met with the state party Chairman, Sunny N Wokekoro.READ FULL STORY HERE>>>CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE READING>>>
