Two main factions have emerged: one led by acting National Chairman Umar Damagum and former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, advocating for the reinstatement of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary and postponement of the NEC meeting in favor of an expanded National Caucus meeting; the other, aligned with Governor Seyi Makinde and supported by 11 National Working Committee (NWC) members, insisting the NEC meeting proceed as originally scheduled with Setonji Koshoedo as acting National Secretary.
