DAILY POST reports that the Justice Haruna Simeon Tsammani-led PEPT dismissed the petitions of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, Labour Party and Peter Obi, as well as Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s declaration of Bola Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 Presidential election.

CACOL said that Wednesday’s judgement should put a halt to the rancorous, divisive, and phlegmatic campaigns and contestation that attended the last presidential poll.

“We note that despite heightened campaigns of calumny to arm-twist the judiciary, members of the panel displayed high standards of professional ethics in audaciously discharging their duties in a manner that abundantly uphold the sanctity and integrity of the judiciary.

“These include that President Tinubu is academically qualified to contest for President, Senator Kashim Shetima is eligible to contest, fraud and drug cases against President Tinubu in the United States of America was not proven, 25% of votes in Abuja is not necessary to become President and, INEC is independent to choose method of transmission of results.

“At this moment in our history, Nigeria needs its best hands to pilot the affairs of the country, we therefore call on all parties to sheathe partisan swords and join hands on the onerous task of nation building.

“The challenges are enormous, a stagnant national economy in comatose, total collapse of industry and production, rising waves of insecurities – armed insurgencies, banditry, kidnappings, and ethnic -nationalities agitations to mention a few.

“The nation needs healing of wounds, stability and fundamental reconstruction, not distractive, diversionary political wrangling.

“President Tinubu has already commenced steps in leading an all-inclusive Government.

“The newly constituted Federal Executive Council cuts across party divides, incorporates technocrats and has commenced economic reforms to address our ailing economy, infrastructural deficits, and food security. If Nigeria is to attain its Olympic heights, we must totally jettison politics of bitterness and acrimonies.

“The winners take it all syndrome in politics would only spell doom for the nation’s strive for development.

“Thus, we look forward to opposition parties setting electioneering, partisan differences aside, to make meaningful, altruistic contributions to the goals of nation building and sustainable development,” the group said.
