Police arraign man for receiving stolen cattle

The police on Monday arraigned 32-year-old Bello Ismaila before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly receiving stolen cattle.

Police prosecutor Inspector Johnson Okunade told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 21, 2023, at 5 pm in Ogotun-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant received two stolen cattle from one Abdulkadri Buba, an offence that he said contravened Section 343(1) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him, while his counsel, Toyin Oluwole, urged the court to grant his client bail.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate A.O. Adeosun granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

He subsequently adjourned the case until June 13.
